I am a 3rd year Interior Design student currently undertaking my final major project. The project is to design a temporary 'hostel' for students to 'drop-in' when they need immediate short-term accommodation. The site that i have chosen for the design are 4 disused railway arches, and i have been working on a simple fold-out scheme that sits within the arches and pulls out to varying lengths depending on the demand. The scheme would only be in place for 6 months of the year and could be securely shut away when not in use.and I have had many problems with the interior layouts and circulation issues involved with having collapsible structures.
I am looking for any advice or examples of this kind of project that deals with flexible but site specific answers, that would provide 'cheap' short term accommodation. I am also looking for cheap but secure materials that could be provided, such as, polycarbonates, fibreglass, cardboard, fabrics etc.
Any help on these matters would be gratefully recieved as i am finding it difficult to find any unique and exciting examples of this nature.
Thanks. |
