Just starting with DW-lite - help please - can't find it in help system
trying to create an octagonal plan building with pitched roof - in fact only 5 of the faces project from the neighbouring block (see attached sketch).

Do I build it up from rectangles, polyline extruded ???

Here's One way to do it (assuming you use a PC):

step 1: Type Shift+Ctrl+' (apostrophy) to get to the circle facet window and type in 8 (for an octagon).

step 2: Use the circle/polygon tool to draw your octagon and Alt-drag it up to the desired hieght of your roof.

step 3: Use the trim tool on one of the vertical sides to turn your extruded octagon into two pieces, wall and roof (see step 6).

step 4: Wallify the roof part it into pie shaped slices. Set the wallify thickness to exactly half the width of your octagon and you will get perfect pie shaped pieces that meet at the centeof your octagon.

step 5: Space jump to each of the midpoint handles of the pie slices of your roof and Alt-drag them down to the desired slope.

step 6: Now you also have an octagon beneith your octagonal roof that you can make your walls out of.

Hope that was understandable and helpful.

many thanks - just the help I needed - wireframe works just fine - when I select shaded, some of the 'roof' facets of the now pitched octagon roof seem 'inverted', i.e. voids and not solid sloping planes - tips??
