I have developed a new product for the construction industry and am now seeking professional advice in regards to fire rating requirements in the commercial industry ie. hotels, high rise, schools, medical facilities.
I understand there will be different requirements. The product is decorative and manufactured from A.B.S.plastic.This will mainly be used in hotel and high rise condo construction.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I thank you in advance, Mike

I AM A RETIRED HOTEL DESIGNER/CONSULTANT, ANY MATERIALS TO BE USED IN HOTEL CONSTRUCTION AND DECORATIONN INCLUDING CARPETS, WALLPAPER, LIGHTING RFIXTURES, ETC. HAVE TO CARRY THE SEAL OF APPROVAL FROM Underwriters Laboratories Inc., WHICH IS A LONG AND EXPENSIVE PROCESS, YOU MAY ALSO CONSULT THE NATIONAL FIRE CODE, AND THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS (ICBO)

GOOD LUCK

last week SABS got a ICC rating. maybe look at that?

Quote:

The vision of ICC-ES combined with Strata's hard work have brought forth a true, modern alternative building system with an equally important 21st century analysis method capable of predicting the structural performance of its buildings using any design under any set of climate and stress load conditions. These stress load factors included up to a Zone 4 earthquake, 170 mile per hour wind (as occurs in coastal regions), 15 minute or longer fire resistance to internal and external fires without the risk from structural collapse, and other durability indicators. Passing the rigorous ICC-ES testing and the completion of several SABS™ structures allows Strata to make the claims that:
• SABS™ structures are Earthquake resistant
• SABS™ structures are hurricane resistant
• SABS™ structures have the highest strength and safety
• SABS™ structures are architecturally beautiful
• SABS™ structures will have a very long lifetime
• SABS™ buildings are the most advanced green buildings on earth

ICC-ES accreditation - Report # ES-1638

Mike:
You will have to submit the UL fire spread ratings for your product to the fire marshall in charge of the project in which are goin to be used.

He/she will approve or reject the product, or require modifications according to his own criteria and the way he/she interprets the applicable code.

He/she may allow the use of your product in guest rooms but not in meeting rooms. Eventually you will collect letters of approval from the marshals and submit them to obtain new approvals.

Your product should carry a label with all the applicable specifications. i.e. carpet labels, mattress labels, etc.
