| I just picked up a book called 100 houses by 100 Architects and the DeMaria container house in Redondo Beach was featured in it. That house turned out great. I also read recently about his community center project in East LA that utilizes containers and another project in Venice Beach, CA. There are some shots on the DeMaria website of those projects that look ok, but they're only construction progress images. A friend at UCLA Architecture school heard DeMaria speak there recently and said that although his work was super progressive, DeMaria was bent on costs and making everything affordable. Anyone else attend that lecture? The affordable housing concept is a noble gesture and I'm still waiting to see the Logical Home project costs - maybe then we'll see this idea of "architecture as a product" come to life. No word on when the Logical website will be up for business. Any other word on the development of his projects or Logical? |

From what little I see of it the Redondo beach house is very interesting. Building with containers is not new and also not easy. Eight feet is a limiting form giver.
Wish I new how to post images. |

New info on this architect. Go to the website
gliving.com
and scroll down to DeMaria's image and the title, Room 101. This was a great interview and I recommend it to all who are container inquisitive. |
