I am wanting to abroad for a year (outside the EU) and I am wondering if my experience can be counted towards my 24 months needed before I sit my part 3 in the UK? I know it has to be approved by the ARB but in most cases is this successful?
Any help at all would be appreciated especially from anyone who has been in this position before! |

| I don't think it’s successful unless you are still going to be working under a registered RIBA architect. Twelve months of experience after completing part II is the minimum time needed before you can sit part III so you shouldn't really worry about going abroad for a year then returning and taking another year before you sit part III. There are a number of graduate architects in the office where I work and two out of the three weren't allowed to sit their part III after 12 months because they still didn't have enough experience. The guy who did sit it was allowed because he had worked on a project from beginning to end which is one of the requirements but I think the way the requirements are judged to have been fulfilled differs from school to school. |
