I'm having problems getting formatted spreadsheet info into PowerCADD
(schedules, etc.)
I'm running the latest and greatest of everything.
When I do a Paste Special, the information is pasted into a single long line of text unformatted.
Any help wpuld be appreciated

Bob,
You need to copy as a picture from Excel. Hold down the Shift key while accessing the Edit menu in Excel and you will get a dialog with settings of how to copy.

| This might not pertain to what you need to do with the spreadsheet in PowerCADD, but for most of the schedules that I insert into drawings, I just print to PDF from Excel and place the PDF in PowerCADD. That forces me to update the actual spreadsheet instead of letting obsolete excel files inhabit my job folders and also saves any trouble "fixing" formatting casualties during translation. |

Bob,
As MikeC noted, Copy picture works, here is a caddpower.com article which describes the process in detail. It breaks the process into two stages (stage one is where you'd likely stop) as the article discusses converting the data to real editable objects for export via dwg or dxf.
The alternative is to print to pdf, then place the pdf in PowerCADD

I recently had great success getting an Excel formatted document into PowerCADD. The hitch is that you need Adobe Illustrator to do it.
1. Set the page setup for the Excel file so that it will print on only one page. In my case, I had to use a 36x48 sheet, since if it scales the text down too much it will mess up the text kerning.
2. Save a PDF of the Excel file using the Print command.
3. Open the PDF file in Illustrator and export it as an AutoCAD DWG or DXF file.
4. Open the DWG or DXF file in PowerCADD* and ungroup/group any of the text as necessary.
This technique preserves the text formatting, and it's turned into normal PowerCADD text that you can edit however you want. This process creates some odd groups, but I normally just ungroup everything and then rearrange it as I want. Text color doesn't come through, although underlined text will show the correct color, but the underlining itself becomes a line object. Italics and different fonts do not come through either, as it all appears to be converted to Arial, but font size and positioning is preserved.
*Note that only PowerCADD 6 can import DWG or DXF files from Illustrator. |
